Jun + Judy

I remember the first time I met this couple. Judy texted me for a meeting in Greenhills in the afternoon. I was my old self sweating profusely in an A/C room. Jun and Judy had to give me all of their tissue paper just so I can stop the flooding. They were a bit hesitant to call me out since they didn’t think their chosen photographer was young and, at that time, still a student. I guess they were a bit on edge about me because of my perceived lack of experience.

Fast forward to their wedding day. Judy’s preps were in Richmonde and Jun’s were in Go Hotels nearby. My crew arrived a bit early just in time for lunch. I must admit that I was quite nervous coming because my last wedding shoot was a long time ago and I felt that I needed some warm-up. After a couple of shots, I think I got my groove on. Fortunately for me, I also had a veteran crew which gave me confidence during the reception when I was doing my slide show.

Thanks to Jun and Judy for trusting me for the coverage of one of their most important days in their lives. Here are some images!

Rye + Pam’s Wedding in Paco Park, Manila

The wedding ceremony was held at Paco Park in St. Pancratius Chapel, wedding preparations were in Sofitel Manila and the reception was held at La Castellana also in Manila. The entire day was very well organized by Marex Gaba who made it possible for me to take lot’s of beautiful images of the couple. It was hassle free, the timing of the shoots were dead on for the best light. St. Pancratius was beautiful under the afternoon sun and Sofitel just solidified itself for being a favorite place were couples do preparations because of it’s lighting during the morning. Rye is a former DJ in Wave 89.1 who now works for MTV. We worked together a number of times in events for PLDT and Saatchi&Saatchi. The photographer he originally booked backed out so I had to take in the reigns for the event’s coverage. The booking was short noticed and thankfully I was available. The wedding reception was really fun and it was so hard not to watch! Itchyworms, Sugarfree, and Urban Nation played back to back to back!

Jheyvii + Cathy’s Wedding at Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, Quezon City

Photographer: Tim Medrano

Preps: Great Eastern Hotel

Church: Parish of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Reception: UP Diliman Bahay ng Diliman

JV and Cathy are office mates at Infocom. JV is a web developer and Cathy is a web designer (Perfect help for my thesis!!). According to Cathy, JV is the camera shy type and would need coaching to pose. I guess Cathy coached him well right after our final meeting before the wedding day because I didn’t have problems with him posing for the camera. Cathy, however, made our shoot very, very easy and fun. She did all the poses like a pro! Watch the Slide Show

Bong + Mavie’s Wedding at Nasugbu, Batangas

Bong and Mavie’s wedding in Nasugbu, Batangas saw a lot of firsts for me. It was the first time I had to make an on-site slide show, it was also the first time I covered an out of town wedding on my own where I had to handle the logistics on my own and it was the first time being so tired felt so fulfilling. Yes, I was thrashed. Wedding photography with 2 hours of sleep for before the wedding, driving myself and my 2nd to the preps, church and reception venue. Not to metion that I had to drive home. Total driving time: 4 hours going to and 4 hours going back and an hour’s worth of driving around town (yet I’m writing this post). After all that, I’m still stoked with the photos that was created. As always, nothing fancy, just simple, natural and real wedding photography. Hope you guys like it :)

Chris and Aime Wedding Reception Filipino Style in Cainta, Rizal

Chris and Aime already had their wedding ceremony in the US but Aime’s family wanted them to feel how it is to be married here. Though the celebration was limited to the reception only, it was a very cool and had a native feel- very Rizal. From the delicious food, all native filipino and specialties from Rizal. They even had tradition filipino folk dancers to teach people how to do the tinikling and other filipino dances.

Image Books

I’m currently making books for delivery of my past works that are non-commercial. They are works that really came from me being the photography addict that I am and my numerous spontaneous photo-walks, travels or just experimentations around the house. These works are very consistent on how I see and live my world.

Unbeachy Photos – Potipot Gateway, Candelaria, Zambales

It was wierd, wierd shoot. I was in Candelaria a couple of towns away from Pangasinan. It was about 6 hours way from Manila and I wasn’t really interested in shooting the beach. Like most photographers here or abroad, we all have our fair share of beach images. Somehow we get infected of the “we have to shoot because we are in the beach”-itis. While it is not a very dangerous disease, it gets irritating already. I get irritated I haven’t shot anything new in the past month except for a chance to shoot RC cars.

When I was in Candelaria, I bring out my camera reluctantly because I know, I may not be able to use it aside from shooting the family. Well this time I pushed myself to shoot by thinking less “beach” but more on the basics. “Basic” in the sense that I looked for design elements rather than telling a story about my day on the beach. I want to take out the mindset that I was at the beach, rather I wanted to take photos that has nothing to do with how we visualize being at the beach. Wierd huh? Anyway, here are some of the results. Feel free to comment or criticize or whatever, I can just edit it. HAHAHAHA
